Tomorrow, Sunday 15 June, residents from across the South will gather for a March for Gaza as part of a Global Day of Action for Palestine. The peaceful protest will begin at 2pm at Southampton’s Civic Centre Green, before moving through Bargate for speeches, and then returning to the starting point.
This march is part of an international movement calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege of Gaza, and justice for the Palestinian people who continue to face devastating attacks, occupation, and humanitarian catastrophe.
Organisers are calling on people from Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Andover, Winchester and beyond to join in solidarity and raise their voices.
“Gaza has suffered enough,” say the organisers. “We are marching for justice, unity, and humanity. This is a call to every mother, student, worker, child, and faith leader — if you’ve ever felt helpless watching the horrors unfold, this is your moment to act. If you’ve ever prayed for Palestine, this is your chance to walk that prayer.”
The Southampton demonstration is one of hundreds of coordinated marches taking place worldwide, demanding an end to Israel’s military onslaught and blockade of Gaza, accountability for alleged war crimes and violations of international law, pressure on governments to halt arms sales and economic support to Israel, and a free and sovereign Palestine.
With a strong turnout expected, organisers aim to make Southampton a visible voice in the global chorus for justice.
Speakers at the event will include local activists, faith leaders, students, and members of the Palestinian community.
The event is family-friendly and open to people of all faiths and backgrounds. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs, Palestinian flags, keffiyehs, and drums to make the demonstration powerful and vibrant.
An organiser said: “When we show up together, they can’t ignore us.”
