Southampton joined a Global March for Gaza as communities across the south coast united for justice, humanity and Palestine.
On Sunday 15 June 2025, residents from across the South gathered for a March for Gaza as part of a Global Day of Action for Palestine. The peaceful protest began at Civic Centre and headed to the Bargate for speeches.
The march was part of an international movement calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege of Gaza, and justice for the Palestinian people who continue to face devastating attacks, occupation, and humanitarian catastrophe.
The Southampton demonstration was one of hundreds of coordinated marches taking place worldwide, demanding an end to Israel’s military onslaught and blockade of Gaza, accountability for war crimes and violations of international law, pressure on governments to halt arms sales and economic support to Israel a free and sovereign Palestine.
There was a powerful mix of speeches, choirs, and drumming groups, with people of all ages uniting to call for an end to the starvation and slaughter in Gaza.
Compared to previous demonstrations, there was a noticeable shift in the atmosphere.
Passers-by appeared more engaged, as if the constant stream of harrowing images — of starvation, destruction, and the targeting of innocent civilians — had finally made the urgency of the situation impossible to ignore.
