Local people calling for peace in Gaza will gather in Southampton for a peace protest and picnic this weekend.
Since the current Israeli attacks on Gaza began, in October 2023, more than 58,000 Palestinians have been killed.
The UN has stated that Israel has committed war crimes, and a UN Special Committee, along with organisations such as Amnesty, has concluded that Israel is committing genocide.
The World Health Association reports that children in Gaza have died from malnutrition and Unicef reports that more than 5,000 children were diagnosed with malnutrition in the Gaza strip in May this year.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign is amongst the organisations who have been calling for a ceasefire and peace in the region, as well for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza.
On Sunday (July 13th) PSC Southampton will be holding a peace protest, including a march through the city centre, followed by a gathering with invited speakers and BYO picnic.
The march will leave Guildhall Square at noon, with protesters marching to the Bargate and back to the Peace Fountain.
