Southampton Pride returns to the city on 23rd and 24th August. This is another two day Pride event after the major success from last year’s first two day Southampton Pride.

The event will feature a huge number of musicians, performers and artists, including Momma G from Britain’s Got Talent in 2022.

Southampton Pride remains a fully free to attend event. With accessibility including a BSL interpreter to help make sure that everyone is included to be themselves,  protest for LGBTQIA+ people, and support queer loved ones and partners.

Trans people have always been fought for and defended by Southampton Pride. Recently, this has been taken a step further.

The team behind Trans Pride Southampton, originally an organisation of its own, have recently joined forces with Southampton Pride to help to fight for trans rights.

This is currently an incredibly tough time for particularly the trans community, following on from puberty blockers being banned for trans youths; and the ongoing fallout from the Supreme Court ruling that trans women are not legally women, which has seen many trans women banned from using women’s facilities in many public spaces, or possibly having to face being strip searched by police officers that are men.

Southampton Pride this year will continue to make sure that protest is at the heart of their event during their march. As well as that, there will be a Trans Pride Southampton stall featuring ways to get involved with activism and education on the history of Pride and activism within queer communities. This will be the start of plans for Trans Pride Southampton, as a way to support the trans community, to continue under the wing of Southampton Pride.
