Lord Mayor visits See Southampton Cruise Welcome Team

The Lord Mayor of Southampton, James Baillie, visited Horizon Terminal on 23 July to meet the members of the See Southampton Cruise Welcome Team.

The event was held  to mark the 10th anniversary of the Team’s formation, over which period it is estimated that they have met 500 ships, with well over  a million passengers calling in for the day.

The aim is to give visitors a warm welcome, as well as supplying information about what they can see in the City.

Jack Wilson, co-founder of the team with Ian Lawford, said: “We were delighted that the Lord Mayor could attend, and that he expressed himself so generously in thanking our volunteers, past and present, for everything they do for the City.

“We are also grateful to Fay Draper of ABP for making the Horizon Terminal available for this event, and for all the support we have been given by ABP and the Council over the last ten years.”
