Youth theatre sessions on sale now at Theatre Royal Winchester

Children and young people interested in devising their own theatre, plus bringing to life brilliant scripts, are invited to join Playmakers’ Youth Theatre – with sessions starting in September, and places on sale now.

The Drama and Theatre School Years 3 – 6 and 7 – 9sessions are designed to help participants develop their skills and knowledge in, and passion for, theatre making, while having fun, building confidence and learning to work with others. During sessions, participants explore acting, character development, direction, performance and story generation – to create their own original work; work together on traditional plays and new scripts; and share with their loved ones what they have learned live on stage at Theatre Royal Winchester at the end of the spring and summer terms.

This year the Drama and Theatre School Years 10+ group will take on an exciting new challenge as part of National Theatre Connections – the nationwide festival celebrating new plays and young talent. Participants will bring to life a brand-new script, written especially for NT Connections, by way of rehearsals during which they will develop performance skills, explore bold ideas and collaborate as an ensemble – to tell a contemporary story on stage at Theatre Royal Winchester and a partner theatre in the spring.

Youth theatre sessions are run by local industry professionals; are open to participants of all experiences; and take place in safe, stimulating and supportive environments where children and young people can feel happy and relaxed exploring their creative side.
