Geoff Norcott brings his new show, Basic Bloke 2 – There’s No Bloke Without Fire, to Mayflower Studios in Southampton on Tuesday 30 September 2025.
It’s the latest tour from the comedian, author, podcaster, and radio host – and Geoff’s first under a Labour government – so he’s got plenty to get off his chest! Not least because there’s nothing quite so British as being promised a brave new dawn then realising it’s as crap as the last one.
Geoff will savour getting his teeth into the new ‘big beasts’ of British politics, with scathing words for Starmer and Rachel Reeves (while surprisingly positive about the idea of Angela Rayner as PM).
Culturally, Geoff is conscious that – as the global headwinds shift right – he might end up at odds with people who used to be on ‘his side’. He’s dismayed to find that some of the cultural right weren’t really against censorship and cancellation, they just wanted to be the ones doing it.
What’s more, Geoff can’t get his head around people who shared his suspicion of the EU’s power openly salivating over the idea of Britain becoming Trump’s 51st State.
Unlike most sequels, Basic Bloke 2 will move beyond some of the themes of the original (while fully aware that a comedian doing a ‘sequel’ at all is a bit ridiculous).
He’s been moving in male mental health circles for a while now, but while they’re all saying blokes should ‘check in’ on each other, he’s wondering what happens if you do ‘check in’ all the time but they mainly want to send you politically incorrect memes.
Geoff’s also taking advantage of the rediscovered tolerance towards jokes being jokes to tell you what he really thinks. How much he judges people. Bad parents, people who eat too much, anyone who wears a dressing gown beyond 9AM…it’s fair to say the gloves are off.
Geoff Norcott has numerous TV and radio credits to his name, several successful national stand-up tours, and his satirical commentary has found its way into numerous national publications. Geoff has also also found himself in demand as a social commentator on shows like Politics Live (BBC 1), Peston (ITV), Victoria Derbyshire (BBC 2), Jeremy Vine (Channel 5) and across numerous shows on Sky, including All Out Politics, The Pledge and Offended: Irvine Welsh.
Tickets for Geoff Norcott (Tuesday 30 September 2025) are on sale at mayflower.org.uk or 02380 711811.
