Family audiences – fans of Julia Donaldson’s beloved tales – will be pleased to learn that another live stage adaptation of one of the author’s classic stories is coming to Theatre Royal Winchester – The Smeds and The Smoos– from Friday 3 – Sunday 5 October.
The Smeds and The Smoos tells the story of a planet where the Smeds and the Smoos cannot be friends – but a young Smed and a young Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together. How will their families get them back?
Packed with adventure, music and comedy, The Smeds and The Smoos, which has been described as ‘enchanting and incredibly engaging’ by edinburghfestivalsforkids.com, is perfect for young audiences aged 3 and up.
This Olivier Award-nominated adaptation is based on the popular book by children’s writer, Julia Donaldson, and illustrator, Axel Scheffler, and brought to the stage by Tall Stories – the touring children’s theatre company known for their adaptations of The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, The Elmer Adventure, and for older audiences – The Canterville Ghost.
Ahead of the performance on Sunday 5 October there will be a Touch Tour from 10am for audience members to visit the set and feel the props to familiarise themselves ahead of the show; then the Relaxed Performance of the show will take place at 11am.Relaxed performances are specially designed to provide a supportive environment for children and adults with learning difficulties, special needs or Autism, but still open for all.
