Autumn season gets underway at Turner Sims, Southampton, this month

A season packed full of surprises, sensations, and seriously good music starts at Turner Sims this September 25 as the Gildas Quartet take the stage. From frosty instruments  carved from Norwegian ice to toe-tapping saxophone scores set to vintage cartoons, this  is a programme like no other.

Whether you’re a classical connoisseur, a jazz lover, or just looking for something a little  different, there’s something here to spark your curiosity and lift your spirits. Tickets are  now on sale at turnersims.co.uk

Expect the unexpected with this inventive double bill. First, a handpicked selection of  contemporary compositions shows off the Quartet’s signature sound – rich, rhythmic, and  full of colour. Then, sit back and enjoy a nostalgic trip through classic cartoons on the big  screen, brought to life with live music and sound effects. Think Looney Tunes with a twist  – it’s fun for all ages!

Other highlights include Terje Isungset Ice Quartet – Instruments Made of Ice, pictured top. Norwegian musician Terje Isungset and his quartet perform using instruments made  entirely from ice – harp, horn, percussion and more. It’s a breathtaking tribute to nature,  blending haunting vocals and shimmering soundscapes. A truly unique experience that’s as  cool as it sounds.

Rokia Koné – The Voice of Mali  is another one not to miss. Rokia Koné’s powerful vocals soar over hypnotic guitar grooves and traditional West  African rhythms. Her music is rooted in the rich storytelling traditions of Mali, and her performances are nothing short of electric. This is the sound of heritage, heart, and a rising  global star.

Scrooge Live – A Christmas Classic Reimagined  invites you to step into Dickens’ world with a magical screening of the 1951 film ‘Scrooge’, accompanied  by a live score from the FB Pocket Orchestra. With reimagined music and atmospheric  sound effects, this festive favourite is brought to life in a whole new way. A perfect  seasonal treat for the whole family.

Connaught Brass at Christmas (pictured above) will be providing Festive Favourites with Flair. Bright, bold and brimming with talent, Connaught Brass bring their award-winning energy to a joyful evening of seasonal music. Expect everything from Bach to Tchaikovsky, plus  beloved Christmas tunes to warm your heart. It’s a cracker of a concert that’ll leave you  glowing.
