Ballet audiences will be captivated by the tragic story of a heartbroken young girl when Giselle comes to Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 9 October.
Giselle tells of a young Welsh girl who falls in love with a man promised to another. When she learns this, she dies of heartbreak and joins the Wilis – a group of vengeful ghosts.
This brand-new interpretation of the story is by the award-winning Welsh international ballet company, Ballet Cymru – committed to inclusion and innovation in dance and classical ballet, with an outreach programme that works to break down barriers to accessing the arts.
A story packed with passion, betrayal and forgiveness, Giselle features an outstanding and diverse ensemble of dancers; choreography by the ballet company’s artistic directors, Darius James OBE and Amy Doughty; the ballet’s original score by Adolphe Adam; distinctive costumes; and immersive video projections.
There will be pre-recorded audio-description – in English and Welsh – available for this performance.
Giselle will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 9 October at 7pm. Recommended age: 7+. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
