Mayflower announces new podcast

Mayflower (Mayflower Theatre and Mayflower Studios) have announced Mayflower Spotlights Podcast – a brand-new podcast that aims to shine a light on stories both on and beyond the stage.

The podcast will run regularly from October 2025. Each episode will offer a mix of show-based interviews, highlights from Mayflower’s impact work, and a peek into the parts of Mayflower that audiences don’t usually get to hear about.

The first episode will be released on the Wednesday 8 October, and will feature stars of Mayflower Theatre’s pantomime – The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan; Alexandra Burke and Dr Ranj, alongside Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive of Mayflower. Combined they will share exciting insight on what’s coming up at both venues, as well as behind-the-scenes stories, and showcasing the incredible work that Mayflower does as a charitable organisation.

As a registered charity, surplus revenue from ticket sales and charitable donations goes to fund innovative, ambitious and inclusive community and education projects, to attract widespread interest and support from the performing arts sector with the aim to be creative hubs and centres of excellence for culture in Southampton and to preserve and maintain our venues for the community. Spotlights will put untold stories centre stage alongside exciting interviews from cast members and creatives of shows as well as shining a spotlight on the dedicated individuals who make Mayflower so special.

Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive of Mayflower said: “We’re delighted to launch our new podcast Spotlights and share the many wonderful stories that happen both on and off our stage.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to join the growing audio space and connect with our audiences in a new way and celebrate what makes Mayflower special from shining a light on our impact work, community interviews and featuring the stars of our shows.”

In addition to Spotlights, Mayflower have also launched the second edition of their annual M Magazine, which features interviews with the people behind the shows – including pantomime producer, Michael Harrison. The M Magazine also showcases more inspiring stories from across the organisation along with Mayflower’s impact work and is available to pick up for free, at Mayflower Theatre and Mayflower Studios.
