Turner Sims welcomes families for a magical autumn season of music and storytelling 

As the leaves begin to fall, Turner Sims, the University of Southampton’s music venue, invites families across Southampton and beyond to step into a season of musical magic,  storytelling, and joyful discovery. With a packed programme of events designed especially  for babies, children, and their grown-ups, this Autumn promises unforgettable experiences  for all ages. 

Cinderella Ice Cream Seller (pictured top) comes to the venue on Sunday 26 October. A delicious twist on the classic fairy tale, this new musical from Little Seeds blends  storytelling, live music, and theatrical magic. Join Cinderella on her journey from rags to  riches – with a scoop of ice cream on top! 

The Winter Family Day takes place on Sunday 16 November. Turner Sims transforms into a hub of musical fun for all ages! From hands-on instrument  exploration to interactive performances and sensory spaces, this is a day to make  memories together. 

Highlights include: Musication Station (11am–3.30pm, drop-in) – Try out instruments including electric guitar,  keyboard, and drums. Free. Rock and Rhyme (11am) – A playful rock show for ages 0–5 featuring poetry, rap, and  musical favourites. Tickets £5. David Gibb’s Big Band (3pm) – A musical adventure for ages 3–8 with dancing teddy bears  and jazzy dragons. Tickets £5. Face Painting & Chill-Out Room (11am–4pm) – Free drop-in activities to keep the day  relaxed and fun for all. 

On Saturday 13 December Winter Lullaby, presented by Concerteenies, is a gentle concert invites babies (0–2) and their families to  connect through music and sensory play. Featuring lullabies, bubbles, scarves, and  soothing percussion. 

Blown Away, on Saturday 13 December is based on Rob Biddulph’s beloved book. this musical story follows Penguin Blue on a  wind-swept adventure. With live music, narration, and digital animation, it’s a perfect  introduction to storytelling and sound. This performance is British Sign Language interpreted.
