Scottish singer, songwriter and master guitarist Kris Drever brings his spellbinding blend of traditional folk and contemporary songwriting on a tour of the UK this November, with a collection of powerful new material alongside much-loved songs from across his career. He will be at Southampton’s Papillon on November 20th, supported by Polly Paulusma.
Known for his warm, resonant voice, masterful guitar playing, Sahara-dry wit and emotionally intelligent lyrics, Drever has long been at the heart of the UK folk scene, both as a solo artist and as a founding member of the acclaimed trio Lau.
His live performances are celebrated for their intimacy and honesty, offering audiences a rare mix of craft, storytelling and understated brilliance. This new tour promises to showcase Drever at his most reflective and dynamic, as he previews songs from his forthcoming album and reconnects with audiences across the country.
A highly skilled guitarist who adroitly blends traditional folk and flat picking with more contemporary influences – allied to a distinctively relaxed and poised vocal burr – Drever is an astonishingly fine interpreter of others’ songs, with an increasingly frequent knack for concocting seriously smart lyrical observations and earworm melodies of his own.
Drever has played and recorded with an extensive range of artists including Mark Knopfler, Jack Bruce, Danny Thompson, Eddi Reader, Bela Fleck, Tim O’Brien, Jerry Douglas, Sarah Jarosz, Joan As Police Woman, Tinariwen, Karine Polwart and Julie Fowlis.

Polly Paulusma plays a stunning show of songs accompanied by Jon Thorne (Lamb, Yorkston Thorne Khan) on upright bass to celebrate the release of her latest album ‘Wildfires’.
Together Paulusma and Thorne will bring you songs from across Paulusma’s repertoire of six studio albums to date released since 2004 on Bjork’s label One Little Independent.
