Activists are to hold a demonstration outside BBC Southampton this afternoon demanding media coverage for eight hunger-striking pro-Palestine activists held in British prisons without trial (10/12/25).
Eight pro-Palestine prisoners held in British prisons awaiting trial for alleged direct action against the production and export of weapons to Israel are currently on a hunger strike. The first hunger strikers started on 2 November, to mark Balfour day and the role of British colonialism in Israel’s settler colonial genocide of Palestine.
The hunger strikers are now entering the second month of their strike, which puts them at critical health risk. Five of them have already been hospitalised.
Organizers of today’s action said “Despite this being the largest hunger strike in prisons of the British state in over 40 years, mainstream media has remained almost entirely silent. The rally will take place outside of the BBC, in opposition to its zionist-sided media coverage and silence on the ongoing hunger strike.”
The rally will take place outside BBC South Broadcasting House in Havelock Road, Southampton, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
