An evening of early rock ‘n’ roll, blues and soul, performed by a father and son double act, visits Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 20 January – Ben & Tom Waters: A Very Special Night of Boogie, Blues & Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Audiences can expect a celebration of rhythm and blues, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and more from pianist Ben Waters and his son, saxophonist, Tom – plus, plenty of spontaneity and fun.
Ben Waters has been described as one of the best pianists in the UK, touring the world and sharing stages with the likes of musical greats, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, Jools Holland and more, his performances packed with energy and humour.
Ben’s son, Tom, began playing the saxophone aged eight after joining his dad on tour – where he met and was mentored by sax legends Willie Garnett and Don Weller; by nine, he was introduced to members of The Rolling Stones who presented him with a saxophone to encourage his playing; then at 13 he left school to tour with his dad, together performing in 900 shows in 52 countries over just three years. Later, Tom studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has become one of the UK’s most exciting young saxophonists.
Now, the two musicians come together to perform an evening of music delivered with charisma, soul, joy, and musical chemistry.
Ben & Tom Waters: A Very Special Night of Boogie, Blues & Rock ‘n’ Roll will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 20 January at 7.30pm. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
