Michael Keegan-Dolan’s company, TeaċDaṁsa, brings its triumphant 2020 production, MÁM, to Mayflower Theatre from Tuesday 17 to Wednesday 18 February 2026.
MÁM‘s whirling dervish of dance, ancient rites and live music is international dance theatre at its finest. This visionary piece playfully and provocatively takes audiences on an overwhelming otherworldly journey through the landscape and culture of West Kerry in Ireland.
MÁM is a meeting place between soloist and ensemble, classical and traditional, the local and universal. Twelve fluent and fearless dancers summon a whirlwind of myth and magic, moved by the collaborative music-making of virtuoso Irish traditional concertina player, Cormac Begley, and European classical contemporary collective, s t a r g a z e, performing live on stage with one actor the still point of this ever-turning world.
Michael Keegan-Dolan and TeaċDaṁsa have created another mythic yet timely production that acknowledges how life’s polarities can sometimes come together and find resolution.
Joe Bates, Chief Executive of Dance Consortium, says: “This is the first time that Dance Consortium has toured a company from Ireland, and we thrilled that it is the international hit MÁM by the sensational TeaċDaṁsa.
“Dance Consortium members have been following choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan’s work for several years and so it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to make this happen, with additional funding and support from Culture Ireland – thank you!
“We are so excited that audiences around the country will get to experience the unique perspective and seamless collaboration of traditional and contemporary music and dance – it is personally unlike anything I have ever seen before.”
MÁM premiered with sell-out performances at Sadler’s Wells in 2020 and was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production that year.
Tickets for MÁM (Tuesday 17 – Wednesday 18 February 2026) are on sale at mayflower.org.uk or 02380 711811.
