Local young people are invited to audition for a professionally-led musical production of Peter Pan that will be performed at Theatre Royal Winchester this summer.
Peter Pan is the timeless classic by J.M. Barrie about the boy who never grows up. This swashbuckling adventure sees the Darling children, Wendy, John and Michael, whisked away to Neverland by Peter, where they find themselves caught up in an epic showdown between the Lost Boys and the notorious pirate, Captain Hook.
The auditions for this high-spirited musical adaptation will be held at Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 1 March, 12.30pm – 2pm (for ages 7 – 12 years) and 2pm – 3.30pm (13 – 21 years); and Tuesday 3 March, 5pm – 6pm (7 – 12) and 6pm – 7pm (13 – 21).
Auditions are a great way for young people to gain confidence and communication skills; auditionees only need to attend one audition and can arrive at any time during their audition slot, there is no need to book; and they must be at least 8 years old by the time of the shows, which will be performed at the theatre from Thursday 30 July to Saturday 1 August.
The auditions are free to attend. Auditionees do not need to prepare anything. Auditions take around 30 minutes and auditionees will be taught a short excerpt from a song, a short movement routine and will be asked to read from a script. Parents are not allowed in the audition but are asked to remain on-site to supervise their young people before and after.
The production and direction of Peter Pan will be led by Rare Productions – a youth musical theatre company that gives young people aged 8 – 21 years the chance to perform in full-scale musicals on professional stages across the UK – with an emphasis on teamwork, fun and friendship, while learning new skills and performance techniques.
Successful auditionees must be available for rehearsals and the performances of Peter Pan at Theatre Royal Winchester from Thursday 30 July to Saturday 1 August 2026.
For more information, including fees (applied if offered a role), auditionees and their families can visit playmakers.org.uk.
