Easter at Theatre Royal Winchester

Easter at Theatre Royal Winchester

This Easter, Theatre Royal Winchester’s programme is packed with family-friendly entertainment and activity, from magic and drama to music and fun.

The school holidays start with the chance for ages 13 – 18 to create their very own play based on the stories of the Brothers Grimm. Play in 3 Days: Grimm Tales gives participants the opportunity to rehearse and perform a dark and enchanting script based on a Grimm tale – working with theatre practitioners, they’ll learn to create characters, develop performance skills, work with others and present their show to family and friends on the theatre’s stage. The workshops run from Monday 30 March – Wednesday 1 April, 10am – 4pm, with places still available to book. No acting experience is required, just enthusiasm and imagination.

Next, a screening of the 1985 time travel classic, Back to the Future (Mon 30 March), featuring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Teenager Marty McFly is blasted back to 1955 where he accidentally keeps his parents-to-be from falling in love. Classification: PG.

The UK’s top comic magician, Pete Firman, brings his sleight of hand and impossible feats of magic to the Winchester stage with Tricks & Giggles (Thursday 2 Apr). Rec age: 11+.

Based on Dr Seuss’ classic story, the acclaimed stage adaptation of Cat in the Hat (Tuesday 7 – Wednesday 8 April) features the well-known cat in the tall, red and white-striped hat. Packed with mischief and mayhem, this is a perfect first theatre experience for young children aged 3+.

Fun for Little Ones Live: A Tribute to Ms Rachel (Thursday 9 April) is a high-energy, interactive tribute to the YouTube sensation. With lively sing-alongs, dancing, animation, and non-stop fun! For toddlers and their grown-ups!

Lastly, London’s Natural History Museum presents Dinosaurs Live! (Friday 10 April) – a pre-historic journey through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods where life-like dinosaurs come to life! Rec age: 3+.
