Family audiences are urged to make room in their diaries for A Squash and a Squeeze at Theatre Royal Winchester from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 April.
A Squash and a Squeeze tells the story of a little old lady who lived all by herself in a cosy cottage but wasn’t happy – her house felt too small. But, will the wise old man’s solution of bringing in flappy, scratchy, greedy, noisy, crowdy farmyard animals work?
This heart-warming and hilarious adventure for children, packed with beautiful puppets and enchanting songs, is based on the best-selling book by the beloved children’s book author and illustrator duo, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
This is the first time that A Squash and a Squeeze has been presented live on stage, with this musical adaptation produced by Little Angel Theatre and The Lowry. Little Angel Theatre has been creating and sharing inspiring stories with puppetry since 1961 – presenting plays in-house, in primary schools, and venues nationally and internationally; while also teaching individuals puppetry and sharing downloadable puppet making guides.
The original story has been adapted for the stage by the Olivier-nominated duo Barb Jungr and Samantha Lane who have also worked on adaptations of children’s books Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book, The Smartest Giant in Town and The Singing Mermaid.
A Squash and a Squeeze will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Friday 17 – Sunday 19 April at various times. Recommended age: 3 – 8. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
