A world of mischief and magic emerges on stage when Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream visits Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 21 April.

This spellbinding comedy follows the story of four young lovers who escape into an enchanted forest and find themselves caught up in a world of love potions gone wrong, fairy feuds and theatrical mayhem, while a group of bumbling actors, also in the woods rehearing a play, become hilariously entangled in the supernatural mischief of a trickster fairy.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells of mistaken identities and unexpected transformations, where dreams and reality intertwine, where love is unpredictable and chaos reigns supreme. Can love overcome the madness or will mischief rule the night forever?

This fast-paced show is brought to the stage by National Production Company who specialise in bringing Shakespeare’s works to life, such as Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth, ensuring they continue to resonate today. The company also produces family and school shows and workshops with the help of Horrible Histories author, Terry Dreary.

This National Production Company rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is suitable for seasoned Shakespeare fans or audience members discovering the bard’s writing for the first time; a theatrical experience filled with enchanting language, laughter and wonder for all.
