Play to the Crowd is pleased to announce this year’s traditional family pantomime at Theatre Royal Winchester will be Sleeping Beauty – which will run from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 – with tickets on sale now!
Sleeping Beauty tells the story of Princess Rose of Snorchester – a place where nothing much happens. That is until Princess Rose’s 16th birthday and the evil Carabose curses the entire kingdom, leaving everyone snoozing!
Can the princess now rely on her dozy friends to break the spell or will she have to take matters into her own hands; and will true love get its wake-up call and save the day?
This in-house production of Sleeping Beauty will be produced by the same creative team behind last year’s Puss in Boots. The script will be written and directed by Robin Belfield, with music by Simon Slater
The annual pantomime at Theatre Royal Winchester is very traditional with corny jokes and plenty of audience participation, suitable for the whole family. It focuses on great storytelling with a script and original songs and music written especially for the production, performed by an ensemble cast of actors, actor/musicians, and local young performers.
Cast announcements will follow, with community ensemble auditions and rehearsals later this year.
The pantomime is supported by regional law firm, Paris Smith.
There will be a number of accessible performances available – relaxed, audio-described and BSL-interpreted.
Audiences are encouraged to book early to secure the best priced tickets. Tickets are available from just £13. Discounts for school and group bookings are available for selected shows.
