Babies and toddlers will be captivated by the stunning aerial show, Take Flight, when it comes to Theatre Royal Winchester stage on Tuesday 2 June.
Take Flight tells the enchanting story of a musical mother bird who follows her baby as it hatches, grows and explores the world for the very first time, while navigating challenges such as hunger and sleep.
The story culminates with a beautiful aerial moment as the mother bird supports her young as it leaves the nest and takes flight.
Take Flight is an aerial show featuring two performers in bold, colourful costumes. It is brought to the stage by the award-nominated Rebel Sparks who create theatre that lights up audiences, fans the flames of change and sparks connections.
The company produces shows that break down barriers and champion unheard voices. It is run by award-winning director, performer, and mum, Ria Ashcroft – who is an advocate for inclusive theatre and circus practice, and director, theatre maker and mum, Hannah Stone – who is drawn to fast-paced, funny plays with complex female characters.
For Take Flight, the company worked with a development psychologist to ensure the content was positive for babies in terms of their neurological and motor skills development.
Take Flight is a multi-sensory interactive show aimed at captivating the imagination and curiosity of babies who are then invited to stay after the performance to explore the baby-safe set and props, and even take a swing in the silks.
Audiences should note that the performance takes place upon the theatre stage.
