Southampton’s Festival of Eid in the Park, held by Project Hidayah, in the city’s Hoglands Park has been rescheduled from this weekend due to safety concerns.
The festival, billed as a day of fun, food and community for all, celebrating it’s tenth anniversary, was set to feature food, drink, market stalls, live music, family fun and more. It was due to take place from noon to 8pm on Saturday, the same day as Southampton Patriots are set to hold D-Day celebrations.
Following the violent protesting seen in the city on Tuesday night, organisers have rescheduled the festival to later this month.
In a statement the Festival of Eid team said: “Due to safety concerns following recent event, and after discussions with the relevant authorities and venue partners, we have taken the decision to postpone this week’s Festival of Eid.
“The safety of our attendees, vendors, volunteers, performers, and the wider community remains our priority.
“The event has now been rescheduled to Saturday 27th June. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank all our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, performers, and supporters for their continued support.”
Further details of the rescheduled event are set to be announced.
