Anti-racism group, Southampton Stand Up To Racism, has called an emergency counter-demonstration in Portswood, Southampton, this evening, from 5.45pm.
It is being held in response to an anti-immigration group resuming protesting outside a hotel housing asylum seekers, placed there by the Home Office.
For almost a year anti-immigration protesters have been gathering outside the Highfield House Hotel as well as holding marches through the city.
Over that period the number of protesters dwindled and eventually the protests ended.
Throughout that time, Southampton Stand Up To Racism has held counter demonstrations.
In a post on social media, they say: “We refuse to allow a small group of far-right agitators to present themselves as the voice of our city. They do not speak for the overwhelming majority of residents who value community, solidarity and respect.
