A heart-warming adaptation of a children’s favourite comes to Theatre Royal Winchester in the shape of The Lion Inside, on Saturday 4  and Sunday 5 July,

Perfect for little ones, it tells the story of a shy little mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar. It’s a tale about confidence and self-esteem, with the moral being that ‘no matter your size, we all have a mouse and a lion inside’.

When the meekest of mice is tired of being ignored and forgotten by the other animals, he decides he wishes he could roar like Lion. But soon discovers even the biggest and bossiest are scared sometimes and even the smallest creatures can have the heart of a lion.

Based on the best-selling story by collaborating author, Rachel Bright, and illustrator, Jim Field, this musical adaptation features a wide-range of animal puppets and costume pieces, and joyful songs to hum along to.

The Lion Inside is brought to the stage by Nicoll Entertainment, creators of family-friendly productions and large and small-scale puppets. Their productions, which they’ve toured across the UK and Ireland, and around the world, include the award-winning Dinosaur World Live, the award-nominated adaptation of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and The Koala Who Could– another stage show based on a Rachel Bright and Jim Field collaboration.

The Lion Inside will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 July at various times. Recommended age: 3+ – but all ages welcome. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
