Fans of The Blues Band can enjoy an evening with the group’s two lead vocalists, Paul Jones and Dave Kelly, when they take to Theatre Royal Winchester’s stage with an intimate acoustic duo seton Saturday 4 July.
Paul Jones and Dave Kelly – the lead vocalists and founders of The Blues Band, which has now retired from touring – will perform a live set showcasing not only their own original material but classics from blues greats including Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Sonny Boy Williamson– artists they knew as friends; respected; and performed with.
Paul Jones is known for his vocals – the frontman of the English rock band, Manfred Mann, ,his solo work and harmonica playing; and as presenter of the BBC Radio 2 R&B show, The Blues Show. Dave Kelly is a blues singer and composer, and one of Europe’s leading blues guitarists. He has also recorded solo albums and toured as The Dave Kelly Band. He has written for TV and film and performed with the likes of James Burton and Buddy Guy.
This acoustic set is a stripped-back celebration of the blues.
