Southampton Ukulele Jam, ‘the hardest working ukulele jam in Southampton’ celebrate 18 years of uke-ing and raising money for charity with a very special documentary screening at Harbour Lights Picture House this month.
The Southampton premiere of SUJ Vs The Uke-A-Thon: A Documentary will take place on Monday, 29th June at 6pm.
Tickets must be booked in advance but paid for on the night, with a ‘pay as you feel pricing’ – a donation of £5 to £10 per person is suggested.
All proceeds will be shared between the four charities SUJ supports: No Limits, Society of St James, Mountbatten Hampshire and Yellow Door and will contribute to the Jam’s ambition to raise £18k for charity in its 18th year.
Formed in 2008, SUJ are celebrating their 18th birthday year in style.
Last summer, they successfully set the UK record for ‘The longest jam a jam has ever jammed’, playing continuously for 30 hrs in God’s House Tower (read more here).
It was joyful, uplifting, harmonious, loud, tiring and very, very emotional.
Filmmaker, Imogen Dunlop, filmed it all and has created a most moving and funny documentary with lots of interviews and ‘behind the scenes’ fascinating details.
