Beloved Southampton music venue The Joiners will be closing its doors this weekend until September.
The building will be underdoing essential works.
In a social media post, they explained they were closing “for some essential reconstruction of the old girl, born in 1829, she needs some new kneecaps….Come say ” see you in a bit” to your favourite grassroots venue.”
In order to get rid of stock the venue is offering free entry from 10pm on Saturday, June 27th, and will be showing the men’s England football game on a projector.
Free entry will follow the last live music at the venue this side of the shut-down, from Rosewater, Sonne and Monkeygun, earlier that night.
All pints will be £4 and the venue will be open until 2am. They will also be giving away merch on the night.
In November the future of the venue was secured when Music Venue Properties (MVP), the pioneering Charitable Community Benefit Society, announced the purchase of The Joiners in Southampton under its Own Our Venues initiative with support from Arts Council England.
On Friday night (26/6/26) Frank Turner will be playing an after-show DJ set at the venue following his homecoming performance at Southampton Summer Sessions.
