Emergency Protest!
It has come to our attention that Reform Councillor Phillip Crook has motioned for Southampton City Council to no longer fly Pride flags.
We counter-argue that Southampton City Council should, in fact, fly MORE Pride flags than it does at present – specifically for the transgender community on Trans Day Of Visibility, Trans Day Of Remembrance and International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia.
This is a very hard time for especially trans people right now, and we call on Southampton City Council to show solidarity with our community.
Join us on Wednesday 15th July, with your most fabulous clothes and Pride flags to peacefully protest against this foolish motion. Join us at Southampton Civic Centre from 13:30 just before the public council meeting starts.
We also call on Councillor Crook and Reform UK Southampton to focus on the very real possibility that your party leader might be about to lose a by-election to a man with a bin on his head, instead of moving to stop people in our city from being represented in these stressful times for the queer community.
