The Point celebrates a milestone year as the much-loved Eastleigh venue marks its 30th anniversary with a joyful programme of events, performances and community activity.
Since opening in 1996, The Point has become a creative home for audiences, artists, families and young people across the borough. Over three decades, it has welcomed generations of visitors through its doors, supporting local talent, presenting inspiring work and offering opportunities for people of all ages to take part in and experience the arts.
This 30th anniversary year has seen the venue celebrate by featuring 30 events for 30 years, bringing together theatre, dance, comedy, family activities, outdoor performances, and special community moments. Highlights have included Pop Up Unwrapped, Unwrapped, Summer Social Friday evenings, poetry readings from our local poetry group, The Point Youth Theatre performances, and events exploring sustainability and creativity.
The celebrations continue this autumn with The Point’s 30th Birthday Open Day on Saturday 12 September, from 10am to 4pm.
The free, all-ages event will invite visitors to go behind the scenes, try youth theatre and dance sessions, browse a local makers market, enjoy craft activities, meet sustainable businesses and experience live performances on the Garden Stage, and Hoglets Theatre’s The Tale of the Loneliest Whale in the Studio Theatre (Tickets from £5).
For 30 years, The Point has been more than a theatre: it has been a welcoming place where stories are shared, ideas are sparked and communities come together. As it looks ahead to the next chapter, the venue remains committed to nurturing artists, inspiring young people and keeping creativity at the heart of Eastleigh.
