Five weeks left to enjoy free Park Yoga on Southampton Common

Five weeks left to enjoy free Park Yoga on Southampton Common

By Charlotte Ndupuechi.

If you haven’t discovered free Park Yoga on Southampton Common yet, now is the time — there are just five weeks left to join in before the summer sessions finish on 13th September.

Running throughout the summer, these relaxed outdoor sessions offer an hour of gentle stretching, movement and relaxation, completely free of charge. There’s no need to book — simply turn up, bring a mat or towel and a bottle of water, and join in.

For me, one of the best things about Park Yoga is being outside. There’s something particularly lovely about stretching and relaxing in the open air, surrounded by birdsong and the rustling of the trees. We’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather this summer too, with warm and dry mornings making the experience even more enjoyable.

The sessions are friendly and welcoming, with plenty of adaptations offered so that everyone can take part at their own level. Whether you’re new to yoga or have been practising for years, there’s no pressure to do anything beyond what feels comfortable. It really is suitable for all ages and abilities.

It’s also wonderful to see how much of a community event it has become. People arrive with children, dogs, friends or simply by themselves, and it’s great to see the Common so busy with people coming together, getting active and enjoying some time outdoors.

Park Yoga — come and join us!

When: Sundays, 9.30am–10.30am
Where: Southampton Common, just in front of the Hawthorns Centre
When it finishes: Sessions run until 13 September

So if you’ve been meaning to give it a go, don’t leave it too late. There are only five weeks remaining — come along, enjoy the fresh air, have a gentle stretch and be part of a lovely community morning on the Common.
