Night Currents Music Festival have announced three more acts to finalise their line-up.
That means 12 acts from the alternative/indie scene will now appear at The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on Saturday 3rd October, on what promises to be a fun packed value for money day for live music enthusiasts.
Latest additions, CATTY, Jo From School, and SPIDER, join headliners Lime Garden, plus Prima Queen, SOFY, ARXX, My First Time, SLAG, Ain’t, Marry Middlefield and Cry Sometimes in a refreshingly female heavy line-up that promises no clashes, due to the Wedgewood Rooms having two stage areas in adjoining rooms.
Welsh alternative pop singer CATTY makes her Portsmouth debut at the festival, bringing her powerhouse live performances and tales of sapphic romance and toxic exes with her. She’s opened for artists such as Dylan and Beth McCarthy, and performed at Stevie Nicks’ BST Hyde Park.
Irish-born, London based artist SPIDER (pictured top) mixes alt-pop and rock influences, exploring vulnerability with a sharpened punk edge. She opened for BLACKPINK and is due to support Amyl and the Sniffers this summer.
Rooted in indie-rock, with a clear folk flair, Jo From School is a rapidly rising artist who released her debut EP, Grace, Flair & Distance on Friday (7th) via Chess Club recordings. Hotly tipped for big things, with support slots for TSSFU and Skullcrusher already under her belt, Jo From School completes an impressive line-up that Night Currents Co- Founder Chloe Robbins describes as “Our biggest and best yet”.
Lime Garden are sure to draw interest, having released their second album Maybe Not Tonight in April to much critical acclaim. The Brighton four-piece, who describe their music as “wonk pop” are enjoying a busy time of it with sell out shows and stacks of airplay from the likes of 6Music.
“We’ve been dreaming of having Lime Garden on the bill since we first started the festival, and the album is easily a contender for Album of the Year” enthuses organiser Chloe.
This is the fourth Night Currents Festival, which is presented by Portsmouth-based bookers ABH Promotions, who bring lively alternative, post-punk and power-pop acts to the South Coast all year round, primarily through the iconic grass-roots Wedgewood Rooms venue.
A few tickets remain, and at £27, that’s less than the cost of seeing one act at a big venue, so there is outstanding value for money.
