Theatre Royal Winchester is looking forward to an autumn of dance celebrating styles from contemporary to street, ballet and more, exploring subjects from community to colonialism, from vulnerability to longevity, plus, there’s a family favourite and two festive treats!
The programme begins with Lullaby (Tuesday 6 October) by the multi-award-winning and internationally renowned choreographer, Jasmin Vardimon MBE. Set against a hospital backdrop, Lullaby paints a vivid picture of human connection, vulnerability, resilience and hope, and features striking imagery and visceral movement.
Next, TWAWSI: The World As We See It…(Wednesday 14 October), presented by ACE dance and music, is a double-bill featuring Echoes of Dust, which imagines a world torn apart by war and disaster and sees seven individuals fighting to reclaim their voices, and Letlalo, which is rooted in ancestral wisdom and inspired by nomadic cultures, and explores the connection between humanity and the earth, and the strength of communities living in harmony.

Contemporary circus company Gorilla Circus presents RPM (Tuesday 27 October) – a new show combining acrobatics, street dance, and roller skating – all set on a giant moving treadmill! It explores modern society (the tragic, comic and absurd) and the links between our current problems and the UK’s troubled history and colonial past.
Generations will enjoy the family favourite, Alice in Wonderland (Thursday 29 October) by Let’s All Dance Ballet Company – featuring the story’s beloved characters and bold and colourful costumes. Plus, following each performance, there’s the chance for audience members to get their picture taken with the show’s incredible cast!
Another classic is reimagined when Lost Dog’s Juliet & Romeo (Tuesday 10 November) takes to the stage, revealing the real story of what happened to the couple when they didn’t die! With dance, theatre and comedy, Juliet & Romeo is a heartfelt duet that explores our cultural obsession with youth and the inevitable issues with longevity.

Finally, as autumn turns to winter, two graceful ballerinas take to the stage for an evening of enchanting dance and festive musical classics in Christmas Greetings LIVE! (Monday 14 December); while The Royal Ballet screening of The Nutcracker (Tuesday 15 December) tells the adventurous tale of a magician who must save his nephew who has been turned into a nutcracker!
