Grand Southampton school reunion to be held in Hill Lane in October

Were you a pupil or a member of staff at Southampton Grammar School for Girls, The Southampton College for Girls, or Hill College?

Do you want to get together with your former fellow students and reminisce or just see what everyone is up to now?  Then you may be in luck. There will be a Grand Reunion on October 1st 2022 at Richard Taunton VI form College, Hill Lane for students of any of the above. As well as offering a get together, the event will see the launch a new college prize and bursary in honour of two of Southampton’s former educational leaders: Miss May Louisa Vale, Headmistress 1955-1975 and Miss Mavis Kingston, Principal 1975 to 1984.

The reunion will take place in the main assembly hall on the ‘Girls’ Grammar School Birthday’ October 1st 2022 and will feature entertainment, tours and a display of artefacts, photographs and mementoes celebrating the history of the former Girls’ Grammar School and its successor colleges.                                         

An illustrated book has been specially published, tracking the history of the Southampton Grammar School for Girls from its inception in 1907 until it became one of the world’s first VI form colleges (the only ever all girl post 16 open-access college). The book can be purchased in person on the day for £15 or obtained in advance for £20 to include p&p from All proceeds will go into the Vale-Kingston memorial prize fund which will reward students who have made the most of the opportunities offered to them at the college and have exceeded expectations.
