Medieval Southampton, a hot cuppa & cake in High Street this weekend

After a very successful summer jampacked with radio shows, blogs, posts, articles, walks and talks, See Southampton strikes again. This time, they sprinkle their walks with something sweet.

SeeSouthampton Tour Guides show off the gems of historic Southampton, even on crisp winter days. The city is looking lovely and festive, with its Christmas market, lights and ice rink. If you want to explore more of the city, join them at the  Bargate for a fun walk, and visit the medieval underground vaults towers and the French quarter,

The qualified local guides will take you on a 90-minute journey from medieval to Tudor times: from Bargate, old walls, garderobe, wine vaults, Tudor House, Westgate Hall, Wool House, Merchant’s House and Town Quay Park, to the location where the medieval castle once stood, as well as the dwelling where Jane Austen and her family lived in the 1800s.

Then, there is the story of The Mayflower and The Speedwell which left from Southampton 402 years ago.  The group hosts an exhibition on the Pilgrim Fathers and the story of the Mayflower at the Westgate Tower – open on Sundays from 10 to 3pm. Free entry. More info on: https://www.seesouthampton.co.uk/events/

On Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 Dec 2022 at 1:30pm, SeeSouthampton will be offering their regular from Bargate for £7pp (just turn up), and ‘Winter Walks, Tea & Cake’ for £14.99pp (tickets on https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/city-tour-cake-tickets-449380959547). All ages are welcome.
