Applause! In Common launches new section to celebrate amateur dramatics and more

by Martin Brisland, amateur dramatics editor.

In Common has been featuring professional theatre previews and reviews for some years now. As a community based online publication, we are expanding to working with local amateur companies in 2023 for a new Applause! section.

This region has an excellent reputation for quality amateur productions. After all the hard work that goes into any show the performances should reach as wide an audience as possible. Amateur companies of all kinds need to raise funds to keep their shows continuing, especially after the disruption caused by covid.

We can’t promise to review every production but will do our best to write a preview beforehand and to get a review published on In Common the day after opening night. These are shared on our social media and can be used by amateur groups to publicise their shows. Our reviewers are experienced local journalists, some have been involved with amateur dramatics and are supportive of our local scene.

If you can supply a press pack of background information and photos that is helpful. We may be able to provide a photographer.

No restrictions are placed on type of event – it could be a dance performance, traditional or experimental theatre, indoors or outdoors, a youth production, etc

So if you are a venue or company with an upcoming show in 20203 please get in touch. Email: editor@in-common.co.uk
