Preview: Dave Kelly & Bob Hall with Hilary Blythe, Theatre Royal Winchester

Enjoy an evening of British Blues from Dave Kelly & Bob Hall with Hilary Blythe, who take to the stage at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 9 March.

Singer-songwriters, musicians,blues band founding members, award-winners and friends since they were neighbours, Dave Kelly and Bob Hall come together with singer and bassist, Hilary Blythe for an evening of blues.

Founding member of The Blues Band, Kelly started out in the backing bands of the likes of Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker before going on to play with Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters.

The Blues Band, recently celebrating their 40th anniversary, have released around 20 albums, with Kelly enjoying 15 more releases solo or with the Dave Kelly Band.

Bob Hall – founding member of The Groundhogs and Savoy Brown – has also accompanied Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker and a host of blues stars including Lightnin’ Slim and Homesick James.

He has also played on over 100 albums, including four solo piano and dozens more as band leader or co-leader.

After working together on critically acclaimed joint projects, in each other’s bands and records too, their duo is joined by Blythe on bass and an emotive classic blues singer who has been a part of The A-team and accompanied Lil’ Jimmy Reed on UK and world tours.
