Bank holidays seem to be rather like busses at the moment, and having waited since January 1st for one, here we are with four in just over a month, with another on May 8.
Of course this, in addition to moving towards summer, means there are more community events on. This weekend’s selection includes Friends of Freemantle Lake Park’s community picnic on Sunday (read more here).
This week’s stage options are a varied bunch. Musical theatre fans can enjoy a night of the best numbers from the West End and Broadway when Beyond the Barricade arrives at Theatre Royal Winchester (click here for details). The theatre will also be playing host to a treat for Sherlock Holmes fans with Conan Doyle classic with Watson: The Final Problem (read more here). Waldo’s Circus of Magic and Terror, pictured, the brand-new musical from Extraordinary Bodies and their most ambitious production to date, comes to MAST Mayflower Studios this week (click here for more), while the big show at The Mayflower is Sister act (read a preview here).
Music this week includes Ellie Goulding at The Engine Rooms, Fun Lovin’ Criminals at The Joiners, Dead Kennedys at The 1865 and Jo Quail at Suburbia – unfortunately, The Leylines show at The Joiners has had to be postponed to February.
And, of course, don’t forget to vote in the local elections on Thursday and remember to take your photo ID with you.
