Brix Smith to come to Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms this month

On a high after receiving widespread acclaim for her recent debut solo album ‘Valley of the Dolls’, the post-punk icon Brix Smith is currently on tour, and comes to Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms on June 16th.

Her all-female supergroup – completed by My Bloody Valentine duo Deb Googe(bass) and Jen Macro (keys/guitar) plus Lisa Lux (drums) – will play a series of headline shows throughout May and June, followed by select festival dates.

Brix Smith says, “I’m going on tour. The All Female Super Group and I are hitting the road for our Valley of the Dolls UK tour. Can’t wait to see you out there.”

Firmly established as a post-punk legend through her work with The Fall, The Adult Net and The Extricated, Brix Smith’s debut album ‘Valley of The Dolls’ proved to be a fascinating proposition: a debut solo album from an artist with a storied history, and a record in which themes drawn from years of personal experience are expressed with the liberated rush of a youthful rock ‘n’ roll band.

Produced by the Grammy Award winning Youth (The Verve, Jesus & Mary Chain, Killing Joke), the album evokes the rich melody and fiery grunge attack of The Breeders and Hole, while Brix’s lyrics examine the darker undercurrent that lurks beneath the gloss of The Golden State of California.
