The Big Queer Christmas Lunch returns to Southampton

The Big Queer Christmas Lunch returns to Southampton

On December 25th, Trans Pride Southampton and People’s Pride Southampton will be delivering a Christmas meal for free to any LGBTQIA+ people who might otherwise be isolated on Christmas Day.
The event will be held at Edmund Kell Unitarian Church, on Bellevue Road (about 10 minutes walking distance from City Centre), post code SO15 2AY.
Edmund Kell is a Unitarian Church where people of all faiths, backgrounds and genders are welcome. These values will be maintained at the meal. So whilst it is a meal on Christmas Day, people who have just celebrated Hanukkah or are about to celebrate Kwanzaa, are more than welcome to join in.
A spokesperson for the event said “we  understand how lonely it can be for queer person at Christmas. For a lot of people, “the happiest time of the year” is a time with low finances, family who do not accept you, its hard to spend time with friends if they are with their family and few places open to seek refuge and company.”
People’s Pride Southampton, with support from Trans Pride Southampton, are coming back for a third year of the Big Queer Christmas Lunch.
There are vegan options available for both the meal and dessert (which are gluten free too), this is selected when getting a (free) ticket for the meal.
The Big Queer Xmas Lunch starts at 11am, with ample options of games and movies to partake in before the meal itself, all of which is free of charge.

The church is accessible by wheelchair, this includes both the hall where the meal and games are and the chapel on the first floor for prayer, meditation, and reflection. All of the toilets are gender neutral.
