Young fans of children’s book writer Julia Donaldson’s beloved stories will love Zog and the Flying Doctors, which visits Theatre Royal Winchester from Friday 8  to Sunday 10 March.

Zog and the Flying Doctors tells the story of Zog, a super keen student turned air-ambulance who, with his Flying Doctor crew of Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout, tend to a sunburnt mermaid, a unicorn with one too many horns and a lion with the flu.

However, Pearl’s uncle, the King, has other ideas about whether princesses should be doctors and she is locked up in the castle. But, with some help from friends, can Peal make her uncle better and prove princesses can be doctors?

This adaptation of Zog and the Flying Doctors is based on author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s bestselling sequel and is brought to the stage by Freckle Productions who specialise in theatre shows for families and have also produced adaptations of the well-known pairing’s Zog, Stick Man and Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales.

Zog and the Flying Doctors features music and lyrics by internationally acclaimed singer, pianist and songwriter, Joe Stilgoe, who has also created award-winning shows for the London Jazz Festival, performed with orchestras and big bands, at charity fundraisers and for royalty. He has appeared on TV and radio and his music on stage (including in High Society at The Old Vic, The Jungle Book (UK tour), Zog (UK tour)).
