Play to the Crowd, the arts and education charity that runs Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair and Playmakers, announces that Pulse Cargo, worldwide freight shipping experts, have recently become Corporate Partners supporting Hat Fair Festival Logistics.
Since receiving the news that the charity would no longer receive core funding for Hat Fair as an Arts Council England NPO (due to geographical rebalancing), Play to the Crowd has been seeking alternative sources of funding for the festival, including from the local business community.
After attending the smaller (but still perfectly-formed!) Hat Fair 2023, Pulse Cargo learned more about the festival’s funding needs and, as long-time fans, immediately asked how they could help. Their incredible support and advocacy as Corporate Partners of Play to the Crowd will go a long way in helping the charity to deliver a joyous explosion of Outdoors Arts in the city again this year, delighting and uniting our community through the power of live performance.
Hat Fair and Playmakers Director, Andrew Loretto, speaking on behalf of Play to the Crowd, extended a heartfelt thank you for Pulse Cargo’s support, saying: “We’re delighted to welcome Pulse Cargo into the Play to the Crowd fold as a supporter of Hat Fair. The company really understands why the festival is so special for Winchester and the UK – plus they are experienced at national and international logistics, which is a major part of our work in bringing artists to the annual event.”

Play to the Crowd’s international Outdoor Arts festival, Hat Fair, will bring circus, dance, music, comedy, theatre and more to Winchester city centre from Fri 5 – Sun 7 July 2024. The festival remains FREE to attend.
