The team at Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios has announced an array of dance that will be performed across both venues during 2024 and 2025. From Ballet to Ballroom and Latin.

Nadiya & Kai: Behind The Magic 30 June 2024 at Mayflower Theatre

During Nadiya and Kai’s debut tour, the Strictly Come Dancing professionals share personal stories from their journey through the world of dance; from their childhood memories, competition days, dancing on Strictly and beyond. Combining heartfelt stories with stunning choreography, audiences across the country were given an insight into their respective roads to success and a glimpse into the real-life couple’s fairy-tale romance. For Behind The Magic, Nadiya and Kai, backed by their incredibly talented cast of singers and dancers, invite audiences back into their world to catch a rare insider’s glimpse into how all ‘the magic’ comes together. Kai, who is originally from Southampton said ‘It’s amazing coming back to Mayflower Theatre. A theatre I have walked past so many times. I have always dreamt to have a show here one day in this amazing venue and to be able to say I am going to close my tour here with my other half Nadiya is really quite special. I still can’t believe it really, it’s pretty special.’

Acosta Danza Yunior presents Green Shoots 19 – 21 September 2024 at MAST Mayflower Studios

Acosta Danza Yunior was founded in 2023 by Carlos Acosta, the world-famous Cuban ballet dancer with the purpose of developing the next generation of talented dancers. The junior company embodies Carlos Acosta’s mission to celebrate Cuban folk through its repertoire attracting renowned Cuban choreographers to explore both existing and new creations with these dynamic, energetic, and talented young dancers. The company will debut its international tour at MAST Mayflower Studios, where the company will showcase a rich mixed bill in celebration of Cuba’s folkloric history with audiences.

Adapted by Christopher Gable and Massimo Moricone, Romeo & Juliet is one of Northern Ballet’s most beloved and critically acclaimed productions. Every leap, every turn, every heartbeat breathes new life into Shakespeare’s masterpiece and invites audiences to rediscover the iconic love story like it’s the very first time.

The Kala Chethena Kathakali Company: Kathakali 4 November 2024 at MAST Mayflower Studios

Kathakali is the classical dance drama of Kerala, south India and combines storytelling, dance, drama, ritual, vibrant costumes, and an intricate makeup, featured in the Guinness Book of Records as the most three dimensional make up in the world. The performance offers a rare opportunity to see Kathakali in this country, view the makeup, see the costumes, meet the artists, and ask questions.

English National Ballet: Nutcracker  28 – 30 November 2024 at Mayflower Theatre

The world premiere of English National Ballet’s new production of Nutcracker will take place at Mayflower Theatre. Nutcracker will take audiences on a fantastical adventure as they join Clara on her journey of discovery, from Edwardian London to the Land of Sweets & Delights. The production is brought to life by exquisite dancing, spectacular new costumes and sets by Dick Bird, lighting by Paul Pyant, and Tchaikovsky’s instantly recognisable score played live by English National Ballet Philharmonic.

Eun-Me Ahn Dance Company: Dragons 24 – 25 February 2025 at Mayflower Theatre

Avantgarde South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn’s joyful riot of dance, music and non-stop movement brings together modern and traditional dance styles from across Asia. Pioneering choreographer Eun-Me Ahn’s latest extravagant production sees her extraordinary company of dancers interacting on stage with stunning projections of five inspiring young performers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures: Swan Lake 11 – 15 March 2025 at Mayflower Theatre

This reinvention of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece caused a sensation when it premiered almost 30 years ago and has since become the most successful dance theatre production of all time. In celebration of that ongoing impact, Swan Lake will take flight once more in this major revival. Thrilling, bold, witty and emotive, this genre-defining event is still best known for replacing the female corps-de-ballet with a menacing male ensemble, which shattered convention, turning tradition on its head.

Acosta Danza: Cuban Eclectico 9 – 10 May 2025 at Mayflower Theatre

Carlos Acosta is thrilled to be bringing his Cuban dance company Acosta Danza back to Mayflower Theatre. With dancers from both classical and modern dance backgrounds Acosta mixes these techniques with flamenco, capoeira and hip-hop. The result is Acosta’s own identity in which the rich Cuban culture clearly emerges. For Cuban Eclectico, Carlos Acosta collaborated with choreographers from around the world who created pieces inspired by Cuban culture, but with their own ‘twist’.

Rambert Dance in Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby 20 – 24 May 2025 at Mayflower Theatre

Written by the series creator Steven Knight, with choreography and direction by Rambert’s Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer, Rambert returns to Mayflower Theatre in 2025, following huge success in 2023. As one of the world’s most diverse company of dancers, Rambert is proud to present a show that embodies the organisation’s ethos of presenting awe-inspiring, relevant and relatable work that shows new perspectives and connects with new and existing audiences. Rambert’s thrilling stage adaptation captures the Peaky story, with stunning performances from Rambert’s dancers and an iconic soundtrack from a live on-stage band.

Riverdance 30: The New Generation 25 – 28 September 2025 at Mayflower Theatre

To celebrate this incredible 30th year milestone, Riverdance will embark on a special anniversary tour in 2025. This spectacular production rejuvenates the much-loved original show with new innovative choreography and costumes and state of the art lighting, projection and motion graphics. And for the first time Riverdance welcomes ‘The New Generation’ of performers, all of whom were not born when the show began 30 years ago. Audiences will enjoy a unique and memorable performance which blends the traditional and the contemporary, showcasing the skill and passion of the world-class of dancers, musicians, and singers in the Riverdance ensemble.
