Jazz and swing fans are invited to an evening celebrating the music and dance of the 1920s and 30s, with Swinging at the Cotton Club at Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 25 May.

During the show, audiences are transported to New York City and back to the 1920s and 30s, through the doors of Harlem’s hottest nightclub, The Cotton Club, to reminisce the breath-taking dance and music of the legendary club – a place where greats such as Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and Ella Fitzgerald performed; and dancers like Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit up the stage with their routines.

The music for this evening is brought to the stage by The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra, featuring American vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/vocalist Megs Etherington; whilst the dance styles of the time will be recreated by the Lindy Hop Dance Company.

This is a show about the glamour of the time, the Speakeasies, Flappers and Lindy Hop, and an evening guaranteed to get audiences tapping their toes!

Swinging at the Cotton Club will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 25 May at 7.30pm. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
