A day of magical musical activities and events for children of all ages and their grown ups awaits at Turner Sims on Sunday 29 June. Summer Family Day 2025 will get the whole family involved with performances, workshops, music, dance, craft – and of course the chance to make lots of noise.
Enjoy quality time with family and friends in Turner Sims’ foyer and the beautiful gardens of Highfield Campus. You can take your picnic and sit out in the grounds or find a treat at the local food stalls. The Turner Sims bar is also open all day. With free craft activities from 11am – 4pm and performances and workshops spread throughout the day, there will be plenty to keep you entertained.
Book your tickets for The Sleeping Seeds (pictured), as the artists Fox & Rocha combine voice, harp, strings and bellows, with unusual instruments, including watering cans and trowels, to tell the story of a very special seed asleep in their musical garden. The performance is perfect for ages 2+ and their grown-up and is British Sign Language Interpreted. And experience a spellbinding world of theatre, music, and puppetry, as Little Seeds Music present Tales from the Lighthouse. This is a captivating show full of myths, magic, music and folklore. Both shows take place in the main auditorium and all tickets are £5.
There are lots of free activities too – no need to book, just drop-in. Join Yes! Creative Beats for a Music Making Workshop, and Southampton and Isle of Wight Music Hub present our Community Stage, where local talented young people will be performing. Ascension Dance bring you Early Weaves, an introduction to dance theatre using movement and willow. They invite you to explore imagination, creative thinking and play. There’s craft activities and face painting all day in the Turner Sims Foyer – just bring your creativity!
