Playmakers – the creative learning and community engagement branch of the arts and education charity, Play to the Crowd – is looking for local stand-up comedians and comic singers, musicians and poets for a new showcase.
Playmakers’ next local talent night, the Locally Grown Laughs Talent Night, will showcase local comedic talent and take place at Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday 10 September – with the audience seated cabaret-style on stage for a relaxed, intimate setting.
The application process is now open; the closing date for applications is: Friday 18 July at 12 noon. For more information and the online application form, please visit playmakers.org.uk and email any questions to Playmakers’ Engagement Producer, Hannah Jones, at hannah.j@playtothecrowd.co.uk.
Hannah said: “I’m really looking forward to our new comedy talent night and hearing from all the local stand-up comedians and comic artists that apply to be a part of it.
“I think because we’re asking for other comedic artists to take part – singers, musicians and poets – as well as stand-ups, we should see a real mix of work and I’m hoping that everyone who comes to the show – the audience and the artists – go away with a big smile on their face!”
Audiences can buy tickets for the Locally Grown Laughs Talent Night from the theatre website at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk. This is a Pick Your Price event meaning audiences can choose the ticket price that works best for them and enjoy the show for as little as £4.
