Experience an enchanted musical performance by talented musicians in the iconic home of Florence Nightingale, when Fever presents Candlelight to raise money for the JCSR (Jibraan Chaudhary Sepsis Research) Foundation at Embley Park, West Wellow on Saturday 28 June at 8.15pm.
Illuminated by the warm glow of thousands of candles, Candlelight will create an immersive and intimate atmosphere like no other, with an evening of Hollywood soundtracks and a mission to fund cutting-edge medical research to reduce the sepsis mortality in patients with leukaemia and other cancers.
JCSR Foundation was set up in memory of 18-year old Jibraan Chaudhary, who passed away in November 2024 as a result of sepsis associated with the treatment of his leukaemia.
Treatment of leukaemia is a highly-complex medical challenge, integrating chemotherapy, radiation therapy, antibiotics and often culminates in a transplant from a closely-matched donor.
Unfortunately, the cocktail of therapies results in an obliteration of the patient’s blood cells and removes the ability to fight off bacteria, fungal and viral infections.
During the time it takes for the bone marrow to remanufacture these cells, patients are highly susceptible to infection. The high number of antibiotics given during the course of treatment can result in some bacteria developing multi-antibiotic resistance. If the infection can not be treated, the life-threatening condition of sepsis develops.
The purpose of the JCSR Foundation is to raise money to fund innovative and cutting-edge medical research into the management and treatment of infections and sepsis associated with chemotherapy treatment of leukaemia, which is currently a relatively underfunded part of medical research.
With an ultimate goal, in Jibraan’s memory, to discover new treatment and management options to ensure that chemotherapy-associated sepsis is a thing of the past, the JCSR Foundation pour Jibraan’s spirit, courage, laughter, and unwavering optimism into every initiative, whilst uniting leading clinicians and scientists.
The JCSR Foundation researches why sepsis so often strikes those fighting blood cancer – and hopes to accelerate innovations that spot and stop sepsis before it takes hold, sparing others the heartbreak that Jibraan’s family endured.

The Candlelight concert has been generously funded by a private individual, ensuring that every penny raised can go straight to research to fuel fundraising efforts toward ground-breaking sepsis research in leukaemia.
Help bring light to a brighter future for people with leukaemia!
