Preview: The Worst Princess, Theatre Royal Winchester

Families are invited to a fairy tale with a difference when The Worst Princess visits Theatre Royal Winchester from Friday 27 June.

The Worst Princess tells the story of Feisty Sue who is not your everyday fairy tale princess, she is The Worst Princess – and after being rescued by her twit of a prince, she is ready to start her happy ending. But first she must make friends with a dragon, escape from a tower and set the prince’s pants on fire with her new fire-breathing friend!

This stage adaptation based on the bestselling picture book by children’s author Anna Kemp features laugh-out-loud comedy, puppets, pop anthems that the whole audience can singalong with, and a larger-than-life dragon.

It is brought to the stage by Full House Theatre – a family and touring theatre company who ‘craft, programme and develop theatre and performance projects for, by and with children and young people’. Past productions have included a show based on the Peter Pan story; a retelling of The Elves and The Shoemaker; an adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk; a musical based on the festive favourite, A Christmas Carol, and many more.

As part of their visit to see The Worst Princess, audiences will get to meet the cast after each show; while on the Saturday, they can also meet the author, Anna Kemp, as part of post-show book signings.

The Worst Princess will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Friday 27 – Sunday 29 June, various times. Recommended age: 3+. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
