The James Brown Experience is coming to Mayflower Studios, Southampton on Friday 5 September 2025.
Now officially in association with The James Brown Family Foundation, the show is a celebration of his unmatched impact on music, culture, and civil rights.
This immersive live show captures the electrifying energy, legendary voice, and dynamic moves of one of music’s most iconic figures. Featuring high-octane dance numbers, heart-wrenching ballads and timeless classics, it celebrates the legacy that continues to inspire generations of musicians and Activists.
The James Brown Family Foundation says: “This production not only honours James Brown’s extraordinary musical legacy, but it also reflects his creativity, hard work and passion. We are thrilled to see this show bring his legacy and sound to new audiences.”
Taking audiences on a journey, The James Brown Experience explores the life and soul of the King of Funk in his own words. Featuring all the big hits, such as I Feel Good, Man’s World, Get Up Offa That Thing, Sex Machine, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag, and many more.
Featuring The New Soul Generals, a nine piece funk orchestra whose musicians have toured with the likes of Jamiroquai, Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse and Martha Reeves. The band bring a power and groove that’s unmatched in the industry. Guy Kelton Jones, the leading man, lives up to the standards of the Hardest Working Man in the business, with his soulful vocals and moves to match, raised in Georgia, where James Brown was raised, the similarities continue into his performance.
The James Brown Family Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created in according with the wishes of James Brown. Founded by Brown’s daughter, Dr. Deanna Brown-Thomas, to continue his legacy of charitable giving and to see the world as he did, bringing hope to those who are less fortunate.
