Sponsor a tree of light this Christmas to help good neighbours charity

You can sponsor a light on the Tree of Light in memory of a loved one or special cause this Christmas time. Good neighbours charity Communicare in Southampton, which aims to eradicate loneliness, are delighted that the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Peter Baillie, will be switching on their Tree of Light lights this year.

All are welcome to join in the  festive fun tomorrow (December 4)  at The Mayor’s Parlour, Civic Centre – the event is strictly ticketed event so please contact Communicare if you’d like to attend. On Saturday 7th December there’s more seasonal fun to be had at 4.30pm, Woolston Millennium Gardens where there will be carol singing and children’s entertainer Crazy M who will be leading a children’s lantern  parade from Lidl’s car park at 4pm. The first Tree of Light was illuminated on Sunday  1st December  at St Mark’s Church, Archers Road with the grand switch on by the Mayor, and lights are still available for sponsor.Last year more than 140 lights were sponsored in memory of lost loved ones in Southampton
and the campaign raises up to £2,000 each year to support the charity’s work in the city. For more details see communicareinsouthampton.org.uk or call 023 8021 6016.
